edafe.org was started in spring 2004. Using Cascading Style Sheets by Eric Meyer as a reference text, my goal was to interpret the layout of A List Apart (ALA) 3.0 and adapt it for my purposes. ALA has since moved on and its author, Jeffery Zeldman, now appears critical of his own design.
Clearly, the layout for edafe.org was inspired by ALA 3.0. But I sincerely hope to have succeeded in providing the site with a soul of its own and that you like it as much as I do.

Quite a few people have asked me which tools I employed to put this site together. For the best part of one year, I used Kate, the KDE Advanced Text Editor, and a Linux laptop to write the necessary code. Then my ThinkPad developed a fault and I ended up having to switch to another machine running Windows. Along with this change, I began using Macromedia Dreamweaver. These days, I am back to using a Macintosh and continue to edit pages with Adobe Dreamweaver.

Two Perl scripts are working away in the background. FormMail turns your written text into email, whereas a nifty thing called Blosxom dynamically renderes the blog section of the site.

Overall, I am quite happy with the way things have turned out. Thanks to everyone on whose efforts I have built.
